Hedy Lamarr Achievement Award + Summer Intensive Program in Digital Media + Call for Submissions: The Art of the Remix

The Digital Entertainment Group has put out a call for entries for the 2018 Hedy Lamarr Achievement Award for Emerging Leaders in Entertainment Technology. The award recognizes female college students in their junior year who have shown exceptional promise in their field. The winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship. Applications are due February 15th. Students interested in performing arts, computer and game programming, visual arts, storytelling and creative writing, animation and videography are invited to participate in a two-week interdisciplinary summer intensive at the University of Florida Digital Worlds Institute, June 11th – 22nd. Participants will have the opportunity to work in collaborative groups to create new digital media for showcase to both local and global audiences near the end of the residency period. In recognition of Fair Use/Fair Dealing Week 2018, the University Libraries will be holding an exhibit entitled The Art of the Remix, which illustrates what happens when artists remix existing work and make it their own. The exhibit will run from Monday, February 19th – Friday, March 30th on the first floor of Hunt Library. The Libraries is seeking student projects to include in the exhibit, where students have “remixed” copyrighted materials to create something new. This can be in the form of collage, graphics, computer art, or other media. In order to submit your work for consideration, please contact exhibit coordinator Andy Prisbylla via email at andyp@andrew.cmu.edu by Friday, February 9th with the following information:
