President Obama hosted the first ever White House Maker Faire on June 18, 2014.
The Maker Faire explored and promoted the initiatives of organizations and individuals of the Maker Movement, which represents tremendous opportunities for American education, business, and manufacturing. Included in the President's announcements at the Faire were the role that Carnegie Mellon University is playing in the Movement. The University's Maker campaign, which encompasses new making facilities and the makerfocused IDeATe concentrations and minors, were highlighted in the announcements, along with our partnerships with Intel and TechShop.
