Studio A and B

Hunt 106B / 106C

Studio A (106B) and Studio B (106C) are located on the first floor of Hunt Library, across from the stairwell.

Studio A (106B) is a larger classroom, which seats 42 in its standard seating arrangement. Larger groups may be accommodated if the tables are folded and the chairs are stacked or arranged for seating without tables.   Studio A holds classes, lectures, and events. There is a large screen, 96-inch, TV mounted to the center wall and two smaller TVs connected to a standard lectern touch controller. Audio for the ceiling mounted speaker system is controlled from the lectern touch controller. Studio A also supports wireless presentation via a Mersive Solstice device, and wireless microphones are available by contacting help@ideate.cmu.edu in advance.

Studio B (106C) is a smaller classroom, with a standard seating capacity of 26. Larger groups may be accommodated if the tables are folded and the a chairs are stacked or arranged for seating without tables. Studio B is an excellent space for classes, small events, and group meetings. There is a large screen, 96-inch, 4K TV mounted to the side wall, and a ceiling-mounted projector and powered projector screen. Audio for the ceiling mounted speaker system is controlled from the lectern touch controller. Studio B has wall-mounted white boards.

Both Studios have rolling whiteboards, tables, and chairs to allow for different classroom configurations. The chairs are stackable, and the tables may be folded up to create an open studio space.

When not in use, the studios are available as study spaces for students.  A Carnegie Mellon ID is required for entry.

Access and Policies

To request to reserve Studio A or B for an event, please email help@ideate.cmu.edu, including the dates, times, group size, nature of the event, and A/V needs.

If your group has A/V needs, the organizer of the group is responsible for connecting with our tech staff to ensure the group’s computers have the right cables to connect with our media equipment. While we try to be accommodating, we have limited resources, and you may need to consult CMU Media Services or Computing Services on more detailed technical questions.

Food catering is permitted, however, you will be responsible for making arrangements, to clean up any spills, and to ensure any leftover food or paper products are disposed of.

Any group utilizing Studio A or B should clean up the room after their event is over. Tables should be moved back to neat rows, with two chairs per table. Extra chairs should be neatly stacked and, along with any extra whiteboards, moved to the sides of the room. Please do not block any exits!

Any students using Studio A or B during open times should throw away any paper or food trash. They should also be mindful of other students who may also be using the space, and keep the noise level to a minimum. No loud music.
