Impact CMU 2023

impact2023-1.jpeg

Impact CMU 2023 is an annual showcase of student-led social impact projects. Organized by Design for America, the goal of Impact CMU is to celebrate our successes and to create a culture of social good on campus. Student organizations and research, personal, and hackathon projects are all welcome to contribute their work. We will award three winning projects with $250!

You will be showcasing your work through a poster and optional demos. Attendees will view different teams, talk to you about your work, and vote to win prizes! Faculty judges will also take part in viewing work and discussing your creations. This is a great opportunity to talk to your peers, get feedback from your professors, and for student organizations to promote to a large audience. Our website has more information and examples of past projects.

If you would like to participate, please fill out this form by March 3rd to register!

Fix-It Fair Mending Workshop

CMU’s Staff Council Sustainability Committee (SCSC) and the Staff Council Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee (DEI/B) are hosting this year’s Fix-It Fair and Clothing Drive on Wednesday, March 1, 3-6pm, in the Hunt Library Sustainability Studio (first floor). The event will occur in conjunction with this year’s Campus Race to Zero Waste. Volunteers gather on campus to mend items brought in by the campus community and share some mending skills with those interested. Also, bring your gently used business and business casual attire to be mended and donated to the Tartan Scholars Ambitions closet.

Please reach out to Debbie Steinberg if you are interested in helping or mending!
