Deep Listening Workshop + Queer Art Market
Deep Listening Workshop and Performance
Join Stephanie Loveless in the IDeATe Media Lab (HL A10A) on October 5 for a Deep Listening Workshop and performance. Deep Listening, as developed by Pauline Oliveros, explores the difference between the involuntary nature of hearing and the conscious nature of listening. Loveless is a Montreal-born artist whose research centers on listening and vocal embodiment. She makes softspeakers out of paper cups, performance prescriptions for audience-identified ailments, and sound works that channel the voices of plants, animals, and musical divas. Her sound, video, and performance work has been presented in festivals, galleries, museums, and artist-run centers worldwide. The workshop will run 4-6pm and will be followed by the performance at 7pm.
Queer Art Market
On October 3, join the College of Fine Arts DEI Office and the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion for the Queer Art Market. Here, you’ll be able to browse LGBTQ+-made arts, crafts, zines, shirts, and more. The market will run 3:30-6:30pm in CUC Rangos Ballroom and there will be snacks!
