IDeATe Laser Cutter Policies

Students become eligible to qualify for use of the IDeATe laser cutters by enrolling* in and completing an eligible IDeATe course, by completing an IDeATe-approved workshop which teaches laser cutting, or by reciprocity if they are already authorized to use the laser cutters at TechSpark.  IDeATe faculty and staff are also eligible to qualify, upon request.

To qualify for access and receive login privileges, an eligible user must also complete all of the required safety training, regardless of their campus role, course enrollment, or qualifications at other facilities.

IDeATe runs Epilog laser cutters.  Prior to use, review this Epilog/Corel Quick Start Guide. Email help@ideate.cmu.edu with any questions.

* Note some courses convey permission to use laser cutters under supervision prior to completion of the course, but, after the course ends, access to the laser cutters will be forfeit if all training requirements are not met by the student.  It is the student's responsibility to sign up for and complete EH&S safety training.
